Luke's Gospel contrasts with the other Gospels - the energy of Mark, the mystical poetry of John, the Jewish focus of Matthew. Writing with a historian's eye for narrative detail he stresses how acceptance of Jesus' message means a complete reversal of worldly standards of success and how we need to share God's passion for the poor and excluded.
