When this book was originally published in 1991 it broke new ground in giving a connected narrative account of Christianity in Aotearoa New Zealand. The second revised edition retains the original format but updates suggestions for further reading, includes corrections and some additions and a new last chapter. The book takes account of individuals, denominations, church life and various movements within the context of New Zealand history. It opens up new insights into the churches and the way in which by contributing to the shaping of New Zealand society the churches have also been reshaped.
